The night wasn’t at all comfortable for me because of this nagging toothache from yesterday. I wake up extremely early and after my morning prayer I head straight to my desk to ask my clients for a little extension of deadlines hoping that they will believe what I say.
With that done I head off into town to my favorite dentist, an elderly lady who studied in London back in the 70s. I arrive quite early, its 9:30 am but the smiling receptionist tells me she won’t be there until 12:30 pm. What? I can’t believe that my schedule will be so messed and jumbled up that day; my clients will seethe when I fail to deliver. Did they read my morning emails on time? I entrust all my worries to God and start fumbling through the myriad of ancient newspapers that I’m offered there to await my appointment.
When she finally arrives she tells me that my cavity has to be filled with dental cement and wait for a few more days before the actual filling can be done. I agree readily on assurance that I will be able to sleep that night. On arriving back home it’s time for an early solo supper and then I switch on the computer and head straight for the email inbox. Luckily nothing is amiss and I silently mutter a prayer of thanksgiving. |
